In Gambia haben viele Menschen keinen Strom. An manchen Orten fällt bei der Hitze zwei Tage lang der Strom aus.

Die Leute sind sehr wütend, weil ihre Lebensmittel verderben. Die Geschäfte können nicht arbeiten. Demonstranten marschieren durch die Straßen. Sie entzünden Feuer und blockieren Straßen. Die Polizei setzt Tränengas ein, um sie aufzuhalten. Präsident Adama Barrow bezeichnet das Problem als großen Notfall. Er sagt, dass die Regierung bis Ende Oktober 2026 ein neues Stromaggregat bereitstellen wird.

Behördenvertreter sagen, dass das heiße Wetter die Probleme verursacht. Das ist ein großes Problem, da im Dezember Wahlen im Land stattfinden.
