In Island findet eine wichtige Abstimmung über die Europäische Union statt. Die meisten Leute stimmen mit „Nein“. Sie wollen nicht über einen EU-Beitritt reden.

Etwa 52,5 % stimmen mit „Nein“ und 47,5 % mit „Ja“. Die Isländer wollen unabhängig bleiben. Außerdem wollen sie ihre Fischbestände und Gewässer schützen. Weniger Leute sagen „Ja“, weil die „Nein“-Gruppe keine interessanten Ideen hat. Die Regierung will neue Gespräche aufnehmen, aber die Leute sagen Nein. Island wird der Europäischen Union jetzt nicht beitreten.
